At Skyline Church, we are a progressive United Methodist congregation where every person is welcome and valued—especially those who have been marginalized elsewhere. We celebrate and embrace people of all sexual orientations and gender identities as they are, and we affirm that being LGBTQ+ is not a sin. We welcome everyone, regardless of where they are in their spiritual journey, and encourage all to grow in grace and share the power of Jesus Christ.
Our diverse community includes LGBTQ+ individuals and allies alike, and many of our members have family and friends in the LGBTQ+ community. We proudly identify as an Open and Affirming congregation through the Reconciling Ministries Network and have over a decade of history fully welcoming LGBTQ+ participation in every area of church life, from staff and lay leadership to our worship team and Sunday School teachers.
Recent developments in the United Methodist Church have furthered inclusion. In 2024, the General Conference removed bans on weddings and ordinations, and penalties against LGBTQ+ clergy and advocates were lifted. The Revised Social Principles now affirm that LGBTQ+ people are fully compatible with Christian teaching.
At Skyline Church, everyone is invited to contribute to and benefit from a vibrant, inclusive community, united by faith and love.
