Spiritual Nurture & Growth

Life Story

Greetings! My name is Mary Sheppard. I have been blessed to be a part of Skyline UMC family for ten years. I am wife to David Sheppard. We have been married for 16 years. We have two children, Victoria Rose (14) and Logan Matthew (8). By day, I am a Registered Nurse, Team Director for Seasons Hospice. When I am not working or hanging out with my family, I enjoy reading spiritual books, exploring the Bible and coloring. I also enjoy watching TV. One of my greatest pleasures is my one-on-one time with friends and family.

I serve because God calls me to serve. God has graced each one of us with spiritual gifts, and as members of the body of Christ, our church, we are called to use these gifts to serve one another. If I can encourage someone, support someone, pray for someone then I know I am using the gifts god has graced me with. I currently serve as Co-Director of Spiritual Nurturing and Growth, with my focus being on Adult Education.

Favorite Scripture

I have so many, it's hard to narrow it down.
"I can do all things through Christ who gives me Strength" is one that I say daily.
"She is clothed in strength and dignity and she laughs without fear of the future." This one helps me remember that God is in control and as I grow in my faith and learn to trust him deeper every day, it is His strength and love that help me realize who I am and how he calls me to serve.

Hope for the Skyline Church

My hope for Skyline is to offer a variety of Bible Studies and small groups, to help nurture and grow each member of the community, so like popcorn popping, each person will realize how loved they are and that their gifts DO MATTER, to equip the community to go out into the world and serve others in the name of God, with the confidence of being God's beloved child.
